TOKYO, Japan - Sogo Co., a failed department store operator seeking a new life under court protection, will close its store in Yurakucho (shown in this file photo), in central Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward, at the end of next month, company sources said Aug. 23. The store, opened in May 1957 as Sogo's first in the Tokyo metropolitan area, has recently suffered sharp falls in sales due partly to competition with nearby department stores.
